Track and Field began April 14th with four meets around the Greater Portland area including Valley Catholic, LaSalle, Seton Catholic and Liberty. With 1750 participants this year, three or four sites are scheduled each week to accommodate the participants. As we walked to the stadium at Valley Catholic, a race was concluding as team mates were shouting, “Go Bernie, Go!” Bernie won the 800 Cub Boys race!

Valley Catholic’s Connor Bly Wins Gold in Cadet Turbo Javelin
Connor Bly and Luke Wilson battled it out improving pre-championship distances by over 10’ to duel it out for the Cadet Boys Turbo Javelin throw. Bly and Wilson, seeded first and second respectively, were 20’ apart in the end with personal bests that were impressive alone. Robert Sabido Fulfilled Quest for a St. Clare Championship in the Cadet Boys Long Jump
Robert Sabido improved his season best jump by one quarter of an inch with a leap of 17’3.75” to claim the 2017 Cadet Boys Long Jump title. The CYO Meet of Champions was held May 21 & 22 at Jesuit High School showcasing the very best in the program. Parfait Ananouko from St. Andrew Nativity was the only other cadet to jump over 17’ during regular season. Ananouko could not match his season best and placed fourth.
