The All Saints 5th Grade Girls had height in their favor in the CYO City Championship game against the Cathedral girls (photo unavailable). The contest was played March 6th at Valley Catholic in Beaverton, OR. Both teams played a good game and it was enjoyable to watch.
The final score was 30 – 16.
A 30 second comeback sparked a barnstormer of a finish in the 3rd grade boys Championship game as the Madeleine team scored 7 points in under a minute. They came within 3 points with 20 seconds left in the game but fouling to buy time resulted in a 4 point loss to St. John the Baptist.
FINAL: St. John the Baptist 27
St. John the Baptist 3rd Grade Boys win the CYO City Basketball Championship March 5th at Valley Catholic High School defeating the Madeleine 27 – 23
The Madeleine School from Portland, OR took second place in the CYO City Championship Basketball tournament March 5th at Valley Catholic School in Beaverton.
Kelly Park from Holy Trinity came into 1500 Meter with the best seeded time 5:09.01. Chloe Foerster from St. Pius X had a seed time of 5:33.46. At the end of the race, Chloe had a final time of 5:04.41, nearly a 30 second improvement in her time and the 2015 championship. Kelly Park finished second in the CYO Meet of Champions with a time of 5:12.77. I suspect Kelly’s effort the day before in the 3000 had an impact on her 1500 performance.
I attended the Oregon Middle School Meet of Champions in Corvallis hosted by Linus Pauling Middle School and had the opportunity to watch Chloe where she finished fourth in the 3000 and sixth in the 800 agains the very best middle school competition in the state. I might also add that the St. Pius girls won the meet!
Excellent job to the entire field!

Away: St. Anthony – David Roth, Eric McClellan
Q1: 6 – 10 St. Anthony
Q2: 19 – 18 Holy Redeemer
Q4: 41 – 31 Holy Redeemer FINAL
Two very talented teams playing at the eighth grade level. Holy Redeemer, a powerful group of young women had a slight edge over the St. Anthony seventh graders playing up at the eighth grade level but the St. Anthony team was in the game all the way forcing Holy Redeemer to bring everything they had to the contest. Holy Redeemer pulled ahead by 10 in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter.

St. Pius X the stronger team lead by 15 at the end of the first quarter. The entire bench of St. Pius X got plenty of playing time and the CYO spirit made for a great contest between the two clubs. Both clubs are to be commended for great coaching and great spirit on the court, on the bench and in the stands.
St. Pius X 5th Grade Girls win the 2015 CYO City Basketball Championship at Valley Catholic
St. Francis, Sherwood, takes second place in the CYO City Basketball Championship 2015.
The first points of the game were scored, with 45 seconds remaining, in first quarter, by All Saints. All Saints had 13 kids on the team ( a lot for a bxb team) and they did a great job with getting all of the girls playing time. Both teams played with a significant range of height on the teams.
All Saints led 2-0 at the end of the first quarter and at half time it was the Fighting Dutch 5 – 4. By the end of the third quarter All Saints had reclaimed the lead and the Final score at the end of 4 was…..All Saints 19 – 11! (Fighting Dutch are from Visitation in Verboort and St. Francis of Assisi in Roy, CYO’s rural Catholic School teams). Great job to All Saints and the Fighting Dutch!

Winter Camp meetings have begun. The leadership team for the summer program reviews notes taken at the weekly meetings during camp
in effort to make improvements. At the conclusion of the meetings which lasted about 4 hours, we toured the camp to check on the progress
of the All Saints Cabin which had been knocked off its foundation by a tree. Then we checked out the renovations inside of Champions Hall.
Special thanks to Candi, Leila and Karen for the great job they are doing making Camp “look great!”
