The Long Jumpers CYO Meet of Champions


Roadrunner Girls: Kiana Johnson (Cathedral School) 13′ 8″.  Kiana broke her own Long Jump record set the week prior at the Roadrunner Regional Meet at La Salle College Prep. The old record was 13′ 5.75″.

Roadrunner Boys: Chase Borden (St. John the Apostle) 14′ 4.75″

Cub Girls: Selah Molden (Our Lady of the Lake) 15′ 3.25″.  Selah broke a record that stood for 25 years!!!  The old record was 15′ 3″ and was set by Heather Beem (St. Joseph, Vancouver, WA)

Cub Boys: Hugh Ruttledge (St. Clare) 15′ 1.5″

Cadet Girls: Jamie Griffin (Holy Trinity) 17′ 1.5″.  Jamie broke  a Twelve year old record set in 2006 by Kayla Greer (Madeleine) with a jump of 16’11.5″. (No Photo available)

Cadet Boys: Austin Stampflee (St. Matthew) 19′ 9.25″

Robert Sabido Fulfilled Quest for a St. Clare Championship in the Cadet Boys Long Jump


Robert Sabido improved his season best jump by one quarter of an inch with a leap of 17’3.75” to claim the 2017 Cadet Boys Long Jump title.  The CYO Meet of Champions was held May 21 & 22 at Jesuit High School showcasing the very best in the program.  Parfait Ananouko from St. Andrew Nativity was the only other cadet to jump over 17’ during regular season.  Ananouko could not match his season best and placed fourth.  CYO congratulates all of the cadet boys for their long jump performances. #sistersblog #cyocamphoward

Allyson Hammond Claimed Another Gold for St. Francis (Roy) / Visitation (Verboort) in the Long Jump


Allyson Hammond improved her seasonal standing by over a foot leaping into the 15’ category at the CYO Meet of Champions May 20 & 21st at Jesuit High School.  Allyson won the event with a 6” margin.  Lilly Reynolds from St. John Fisher was the only cadet girl to jump 15’ in regular season and finished fourth with a 14’4.75 jump in the event finals.  CYO congratulates all of the CYO cadet girls for an exceptional season. #sistersblog #cyocamphoward

Parker Steen Soars to Gold for St. Thomas More in the Cub Boys Long Jump

Mercedes Prats Racked Up a Championship for Our Lady of the Lake in the Cub Girls Long Jump

Roadrunner Grant Valley Achieved Gold for Holy Trinity in Both Track & Field

Camille Yutzie Produced Gold for St. Anthony in the Roadrunner Long Jump


Camille Yutzie was short of her best season performance by 4” but she was still the only Roadrunner to consistently jump in the 13’ category beating her closest competitor by 4.5”.  Camille would have placed second in the Roadrunner Boys division and third in the Cub Girls Division.  Good job Camille and all of the Roadrunner Girls Long Jumpers! Alyssa Hughes from St. Clare, Long Jump Title and Race Contender


Alyssa Hughes has been fun to watch these several years during her track and field career.  She can jump long, high and is an incredibly fast sprinter.  You had better have your game together if she is in the contest!  Her long jump of 15’5″ about a foot and a half shy of the CYO record, garnered her the 2015 gold medal in the CYO Meet of Champions.  Nice job Alyssa!

Jayden Holgado from St. Matthew Cadet Boys Long Jump King


In the 2014 CYO Meet of Champions, Jayden Holgado won the Long Jump, High Jump and 100 Yard dash!  No small feat!  He stepped up to the Cadet level this year and won the long jump with a jump of 18’10”.  His jump was a foot and a half short of the CYO Record.  I am betting he might just capture that record next year and I will be watching!  Good job Jayden and all of the Cadet Boy Long Jumpers!

James Menor from Christ the King – He Can Jump AND He Can Throw!


James Menor had some consistently long jumps during regular season and the Meet of Champions this year.  His best seed distance was 16’4.75″ and his Meet of Champions winning jump was 16’4″.  In addition to winning the Long Jump, James also won the Shot Put!  Great job at the MOC this year, James!
