Quarter 2:  Quick pace up and down the floor by two very agile teams of boys.  Bucket success favored Valley Catholic ending the quarter 21 – 8.

Quarter 3: St. Pius X made traction toward catching up and making it an exciting fourth quarter set up with their 3-poing last second shot finishing the quarter with a 26-22 Valley Catholic lead.

Quarter 4:  An exciting battle between both teams with fast action, quick passes but loaded also with turnovers and lost balls.  Ethan’s 3-point shots were critical.  With two minutes left in the game, St. Pius X began the foul strategy to provide opportunities.  With 1:42 Valley held the lead at 38 – 33.  Valley Catholic’s Ben had two free throws with 1:25 left in the game which, if missed would have opened a door for the charging St. Pius team to enter.  Ben closed the door with two buckets and St. Pius X could not get the traction going to open it up again.

Evenly matched teams kept pace with one another through the first half with lead changes and ties throughout.  With a last second St. John Fisher shot, they took the first half 10 – 6.

Both teams scoreless first 2 minutes of second half until St. John Fisher hit the mark for two.  St. Pius X had two breakaway layups and a steal converting on one to advance to 8 points near the minute mark in the third quarter. SJF’s “Allie”, a power player for sure, hit a critical 2-point shot with 10 seconds left following a few travel calls for her stutter steps.  The third quarter ended 14-8 St. John Fisher.

The fourth quarter maintained a 6-point spread after trading shots at 5 minutes left.  St. Pius X could not get the traction to give St. John Fisher a challenge for the balance.  St. John Fisher advance the lead to 9 until St. Pius X swished a two pointer to bring it within 7.  St. John Fisher’s “Allie” put in another quick 2 and brought it back to 9 with 1.25 left to play.  A last second three-point swisher by St. Pius X reduced the deficit to three.  Good games by both teams.

FINAL: St. John Fisher 23 – St. Pius X 16.
