Ethan Reese wins the CYO 800 Meter Run at the Meet of Champions

2015 CYO Meet of Champions 800 Meter Run winners

Ethan Reese and William Sheaffer battled it out in the 1500 meter run and they did it again in the 800 with the same results…Reese/Sheaffer. Both, very talented young men and Ethan Black a close third less than a second off of Sheaffers time.

Ember Stratton (St. Pius X) Making a Statement Statewide

Ember Stratton (St. Pius X) won the CYO Meet of Champions 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:21.12. Greta Anderson was a close second with a time of 2:22.18.

Ember went on the following week to compete in the Oregon Middle School Track and Field Championships in Corvallis with some of her St. Pius X team. She Took first pace in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:45.59, Second in the 800 meter with a time of 2:23.54 (Her CYO MOC time would have won this race as well!)

Cub Boys Long Distance Runners…Who Won the 1500?

Jeffery Rogers, Ryan Schumacher, Luke Horne, Jeffery Osborn and Anders Beil are a few names you will see at the top of the list of the long distance runners for cub boys in CYO. The question is, who will be at the top of the list each time?

Ryan Schumacher had the best times coming into the Meet of Champions but you know, some days just aren’t your days! Luke Horne had an amazing end of race victory in the 3000. Jeffery Rogers, whose best time in the 1500 was only 3 seconds slower than Schumachers, shaved 7 or 8 seconds off his best time to win the event.

I can’t wait to see what these boys do next year and the next year. They are all just plain fun to watch!

Chloe Foerster Edges out CYO 3000 Meter Champ Kelly Park in the 1500

Kelly Park from Holy Trinity came into 1500 Meter with the best seeded time 5:09.01. Chloe Foerster from St. Pius X had a seed time of 5:33.46. At the end of the race, Chloe had a final time of 5:04.41, nearly a 30 second improvement in her time and the 2015 championship. Kelly Park finished second in the CYO Meet of Champions with a time of 5:12.77. I suspect Kelly’s effort the day before in the 3000 had an impact on her 1500 performance.

I attended the Oregon Middle School Meet of Champions in Corvallis hosted by Linus Pauling Middle School and had the opportunity to watch Chloe where she finished fourth in the 3000 and sixth in the 800 agains the very best middle school competition in the state. I might also add that the St. Pius girls won the meet!

Excellent job to the entire field!

St. Anthony 1 , 2, 3, St. Thomas More 4, St. Anthony 5, St. Thomas More 6, 7, and St. Andrew Nativity sneaked in for a point thanks to Ariel Gomez in a race dominated by St. Anthony and St. Thomas More. A great race from beginning to end where the top three seeds were within a second or two of one another! Well done everyone!
