James Menor Fastest Cub Boy in CYO wins 100 Meter Dash

James Menor from Christ the King won the cub boys 100 Yard dash in the 2015 CYO Meet of Champions!  His time was just shy of the record set in 1995 by JR Waller of the Madeleine.

Our Lady of the Lake’s Zoe Zurasky Wins the CYO Meet of Champions 200 Meter Dash

Zoe Zurasky showed her speed as she clipped through the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.99.  The record is 26.50 set in 2008 by Dominique Keel.  Zoe was very close as you can see!  Congratulations for a great Meet of Champions.

Blake Deringer had a very decorated Meet of Champions receiving several gold medals and accolades from the crowd as he showed his tremendous athletic ability.  He came very close to a very old CYO record of 23.64 set by Derek Brown of the Madeleine in 1995.  Some of us find it very hard to believe that that was 20 years ago!  Would have been nice to have updated that record!

Keziah Hollands from St. Andrew Nativity School put 10 points on the board for her team with her victory in the Cub Girls 200 meter dash at the CYO Meet of Champions May 17, 2015.  She was a lot of fun to watch as she powered half way around the track to claim her prize.  Congratulations Keziah!

Michael Brittingham by less than two tenths of a second!!!

Michael and Denzel were less than a second off of JR Waller’s 1995 record time of 25.54.  Congratulations on a spectacular Meet of Champions to both boys!

Greta Anderson from St. Thomas More Captures the 400 for Cadet Girls

Greta Anderson was in a race with a formidable opponent in Willa Grund, from Holy Family.  Grund has graced the cover of several CYO Track and Field Meet of champion Books.  I am sure the girls have not seen the last of one another and their paths will cross in high school if they keep up with this wonderful sport of Track and Field!  Congratulations to Greta Anderson for her victory in the Cadet Girls 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1 minute even.

Blake Deringer missed the record for the Cadet Boys 400 meter Dash by less than a second in his sizzling trip of 53.36.  He’s improved his seed time by nearly a second in his effort.  Well done, Blake!

Molly Grant from St. John Fisher by Two Tenths of a Second!….. Wowzers

Molly Grant  and Jalynn Gill fought a great race right down to the wire which separated them by two tenths of a second at the CYO Meet of Champions May 17th, 2015 at Jesuit High School.  Both girls came into the championships with seed times less than a second apart.

In my opinion, the 400 meter “dash” which was known as a “run” in my day takes a lot of fortitude and courage to compete in.  These girls make it look easy as they “dash” all the way around the entire track.  It was a great competition all the way around!

2 Cubs Break Old Record – Denzel Pinto Sets New CYO Record in 400 Meter Dash

The Cub Boys 400 Meter Dash was a thrilling race with two cub boys breaking the old record set by St. John the Apostle runner Tristan Welch in 2008!  The old record was 58.66.  Denzel Pinto’s new record is 56.90.  He shaved nearly three seconds off of his best seeded time coming into the event.  Nathan Mouzong also broke the record with a time of 57.38.  Congratulations to both boys!

Kate MacNaughton from Valley Catholic Jumps 5 feet to Claim CYO Title

Kate MacNaughton can jump and run and she proved it at the 2015 CYO Meet of Champions taking home two gold medals, one in the high jump and one in the 4 x 400 meter run.  MacNaughton went for the record as the crowd looked on but it wasn’t to be.  A great athlete with a super personality.  Thank you, Kate, for your participation in CYO!
