If You Can’t Take the Heat, Get Out of the Pool!

This summer, our campers at Camp Howard will be treated to a wonderful improvement at the Camp.  We are in the process of putting a heating system into the pool!  This has been the most desired change called for by the youth who have attended the camp during the past 15 years that I have been Director.  There were so many needs at the camp in my early years that the pool was unfortunately not one of the top 5 that we could address until this year.  I am so happy that we will be able to make this positive change and I cannot wait for the campers to enjoy the significant improvement!

What do you think, readers?  Do you like this?

Down but Not Out!

Today was a great day for the Excell Volleyball team playing in the Las Vegas Tournament.  They won their first round game then on to their second round where they won that one too!.  Third round was a struggle and they lost that one.  Great volleyball that stretches the girls to new and improved abilities.  High School age advanced volleyball players from teams all across the United States and including Canada.

Tomorrow morning first game 8:00 am then to the airport for a flight back home.  This has been an educational weekend looking at how they lay out these tournaments, set up the sites and organize the teams.  I have met a lot of very nice people and wonderful fans watching their teams.

Now back to Portland for the CYO Basketball tournament!

What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas!

I am watching my niece play in the mammoth volleyball tournament here in Sin City.  Tournament starts today at 2:00 at the LV Convention Center.  Teams come from all over the US to be a part of this event.  College Scouts looking for potential players.  High School prep teams looking for competition and bragging rights!  Should be exciting!  Will keep you posted on any local teams I come across this weekend.

Shall We Dance?

The CYO Basketball Tournament schedules are finished and posted.  Athletic Directors and Coaches are pouring over them looking for errors which they report to CYO.  Errors will be corrected on Tuesday February 21, 2012.  Whew…we are ready to begin!  Some 350 teams are entered into the CYO basketball this winter in a tournament that will take five weeks to play including the 50 plus high school basketball teams.  Who will make it to the “Big Dance?”  That is the hope of every team this evening as we begin the road to the final championships!  See you at the games these next several weeks!
